Even the plastic bags we get are NOT single use. After they get to my home, they are used to pick up dog poop and to contain chicken bones, used oil filters and greasy rags before they go into the trash.
Exactly!!! Now I'm buying trash bags to do what I used to use the cheap bags for.
To add insult to injury, it's estimated you need to reuse a "recycleable bag" 170 times to mitigate the extra environmental damage.

Wow, I heard that Bill Gates recently made comments contradicting what he had earlier stated. He now says we are not going to all die from climate change.

Plastic, I assume? Plastic is not a great candidate for recycling, especially plastic films like bags. It makes sense to recycle some things (e.g. corrugated cardboard or brown paper bags), but not most single-use plastics.

Like trying to buy a winter coat in February. Why would anybody do that when they should be shopping for swimwear?
Or substitute BBQ grill and snow shovel. Now who'd need a snow shovel in N.H. in Feb?
Or you end up pulling a half dozen bags making frustrating futile attempts to bag one onion with uncoordinated fumbling fingers. Where's the savings in making thin produce bags,if your literally pulled my a half dozen before you can get one to work like it's supposed to?
Are you sure you're trying to open the right end? Sometimes it's hard to tell.

Don't have a dog, but we use the plastic bags for all the other stuff and more. I think N.H. is the only state in New England that still allows plastic store bags. There are rumblings from time to time on banning them here too, but it hasn't happened yet (and hopefully not anytime soon).
Funny no one seems to be talking about banning trash bags. They're single-use too. :ROFLMAO:

Thank you! I've mentioned this to checkout people, which is about as useless as talking to a wall, but... they make bags half the thickness to save on plastic, and the result is everyone double-bags! Brilliant.
That depends on the store. Home Depot bags seem to rip easily, but ones from other stores seem fine. I do wish cashiers didn't seem to think they had to only put one item per bag.

Another funny story about grocery stores I just remembered. Many years ago a good friend got a job at a local small grocery store as a bag boy and wore an apron putting up stock, etc.
One day he's helping this elderly lady to her car loading groceries in her trunk as she's waiting, car idling. He slams trunk and she puts it in drive and takes off...except he slammed his apron on the trunk latch. So he takes off running seeing the old lady turn on the radio. Now she can't hear him slapping the trunk lid! Then she turns out onto the main road picking up speed. He sees her window sticker from the next county over!!!
He's running as fast as he can and he said thankfully the traffic light ahead turned red so she had to stop. Now he's screaming & pounding like crazy! Finally she looks in the rear view mirror, puts it in park and unlocks trunk setting him free!
He said she didn't even give him a tip!

Grocery store produce bags in particular are like smarter than me phones I seriously dislike and peeve them despite using them.

When someone in your household "cleans house" throwing away your broken cheaters, realized this morning those broken but still functional glasses are needed to put a new screw in your current somewhat wearable pair. So using a micro screw driver trying to screw in micro sized screws at arms length is my new pet peeve.this morning.

"I need my glasses, to fix my glasses!"
