Getting gas/diesel. Pay at the pump so I don't have to go inside.
Need a receipt. Pump fails to print or is out of printer paper.
Have to go inside and ask/wait for a duplicate receipt. (the whole
point of "pay at the pump" is NOT to have to go inside.

Then the clerk can't figure out how to print the receipt for pump number 7 and asks, "did you have $68.71?". And I say, I don't know, it was pump 7 and I didn't memorize the dollar amount. Put some paper in the ^$#@& thing!

Then you have the person buying 2 packs of Newport 100's for $24, and 5 bucks worth of gas for their car with a donut tire on it.

The local police. The fine can be substantial, and sometimes towing and a whole lot more, if the cop is given an incentive by the owner.

Some people depend on the close to the door parking for their independence and safety.

If you park in a handicap parking spot, the name of the person on the handicap placard must be in the vehicle when it was parked there.

So, Police should identify everybody exiting and entering vehicles parked in handicapped spaces? Are you saying Police should get a kickback from a store owner to selectively enforce parking violations? I agree that only handicapped people should park in handicapped spaces but it is difficult to enforce.

Agreed. Difficult to enforce who in a household is going to use a handicapped placard, once issued. But it'd be fairly simple to print a big bold expiration date on those mirror-danglers, with the date set according to the reason of issuance. You don't need to be handing out "forever" stamps to folks with a broken leg that'll be healed and through PT in 3 months.

THEN they have to decide which one they want to waste more money on. "What number is that one?" "No, never mind." "Are any of them #86? That's my lucky number. Wait no, I don't like the color."

I snapped one Christmas Eve. All 3 registers were stacked with lines to the back of the store, and the kid had nothing better to do than analize every ticket. I said "They're all losers. Make up your mind and stop wasting everybody's time."

Later that day I was in another store when an employee came up and thanked me. She was on her lunch break and wanted to get back in time to eat.

Having a motorcycle and a handicap placard seems crazy to me.

Just because you have a handicap placard does not mean you have an obvious handicap that people can see.

How does anyone out of state go to Iowa and park in a handicap?

I have never seen my wife’s name on her handicap placard. I’m going to have to look now.

I have a Handycap placard. However, I use it only if I have to walk >100 yards or more to a store entrance. On the other hand, I also see much abuse in the use of those placards. I've seen young healthy people park right in front of a store entrance, throw up that card - which surely did not belong to them, and bounce right on in to do their shopping.
I've never seen a cop check to verify that the user was the person identified on the placard. But I'd sure like to see it done! Either ban them or ensure they are used properly.
