Interesting perspectives and points however I'm peeved when there's a mostly unused paved bike lane 10' off the shoulder and I'm pulling a trailer that's 8'6" wide on a 45-55 mph hilly winding county road. Not only is it annoying and time consuming but it's dangerous and I'm always triple checking my mirrors before taking a right hand turn. If they were in the bike paths instead of riding with traffic I hope they would yield to the intersection of turning vehicles as around me theres actual small stop signs on the bike paths when they cross a road intersection. I wonder how many amateur bicycle enthusiasts are defensive enough to even look for turn signals of vehicles turning and anticipate what's going on, and how many vehicle drivers are defensive enough to notice the bikes riding on there passenger side when making a turn? I ride my bicycle on the bike path when available cause I'm a tiny fraction of the weight of a car or truck.

I would favor a law which defined a stop sign as a "yield" sign for all vehicles. This city has many 4-way stops that often do not have other vehicles present. My gas mileage has suffered big time (about 30%) since moving here. Slowing down is often adequate.

Similar to roundabouts. People seem to hate them. They'd rather sit at a 4-way stop and take turns for 2-3 minutes VS letting the traffic flow more naturally and everyone gets through a lot faster.

Why do they hate it? Because everyone has to take a turn at a 4-way VS letting groups of cars get ahead of me. I was here first, yet those guys get to go ahead of me? GRRRR!!!! %(%^(%$($#!!!!!!
We call them rotaries or traffic circles here in New England, and they've been a part of driving here as long as I've been driving so (most) people know what to do when they come to one. 4-way stops are less common except in residential neighborhoods.
I would imagine they'd take some getting used to in a region where they've only recently been introduced.

Roundabouts in America personally like them however I'm reminded of a classic movie clip, was in Florida well over 10 yrs ago they were putting them in around Stuart. Never seen so many fender benders in the few weeks I was there. big ben european vacation - Google Search

I have a couple of pet peeves that revolve around dinner time. I do most of the cooking at dinner. In no particular order:

1. My wife deciding that she or the girls should unload the dishwasher, right when I'm in the middle of cooking.

2. Deciding that the time to get your drink is right when I put everything on the table and ready to plate it. So, the meal sits there getting cold while people finally get their drinks. Even though I continuously call out when the meal is going to be hitting the table.

3. Not knowing how to use a steak knife and act like you're trying to cut through the plate. Related: Dumping all the silverware (including referenced steak knifes) into the sink, so the sharpened blades of the steak knifes clang together and dull.

4. Not putting a knife out with the meal. Knifes aren't just for cutting, they help you push things onto your fork.

5. Not passing napkins out when setting the table.

6. Picky eaters. I think if you're a picky eater, you've never been forced to be hungry in your life.

My peeve as a car driver is bikes riding wide.
My peeve as a bike rider is how many car riders take out their bad day on me and my son.

Even when riding as far over as we can get on the local roads I pay for, we get people trying on purpose to drive us off the road and yelling at us even while we follow all rules.

Even had 2 cars road raging each other almost hit me.

Then the people on their phones driving off the edge of the road.

The county is putting in a new roundabout at an four way stop intersection that has been dangerous since it was put in. I have nearly been hit by a couple of people not paying attention and blowing one if the stop signs. It's at the bottom of a hill one one side, and at the edge of a bridge on the other, so it's going to be an interesting project. Some local cranks that don't like roundabouts tried to sue the county to block it but didn't get anywhere.

The exact same thing just happened here. Construction isn’t done yet but it’s open for traffic and working better than the 4 way ever did. Most people have admitted it’s better.
