emergency vehicles traveling down the road full lights and sirens,,,at 2am and not another vehicle in sight.
You wouldn't think so if they were coming to or transporting you.

If it is a major emergency the last thing you want them to focus on is turning lights and sirens on and off. If it is a non emergency they just run lights here but if you can hear them coming it is not good.

The county is putting in a new roundabout at an four way stop intersection that has been dangerous since it was put in. I have nearly been hit by a couple of people not paying attention and blowing one if the stop signs. It's at the bottom of a hill one one side, and at the edge of a bridge on the other, so it's going to be an interesting project. Some local cranks that don't like roundabouts tried to sue the county to block it but didn't get anywhere.
Probably already been mentioned, but the government is giving funds to put in roundabouts instead of stop signs. They move traffic more efficiently, less noise, less air pollution and less traffic deaths (more angled crashes, rather than t-bone). Although there's a slight increase in minor traffic accidents. (Maybe until people figure them out).

My town has been adding quite a few, and yes, the uninformed fight them.

I’m sure insurance and regulatory rules dictate this

We just got another one a few months ago, an intersection with notorious rush-hour backups and frequent accidents, in addition to two others we've had for years. Of course, our township engineers would have done well to travel to NJ or UK to learn a thing or two about roundabout design before doing ours, as they came up with an absolutely stupidly insane layout for this one.

North east indiana has fully embraced roundabouts we even have a hybrid roundabout north of Ft Wayne that is unlike any single one I have seen elsewhere

A couple roundabouts they added in my town (city) are on the small side, although they are on minor streets. With my Long bed Crew F250, I barely make the turn radius. Fortunately, they don't have curbs, but painted/sloped boundaries. At least on the interior circle.
