What is orange light on dash?

I have a Yanmar 1500 which has a simple dash. RPM meter on the right. On the left is a red oil pressure light with an orange light adjacent to it. I am assuming that the orange light is for overheating. I'm not positive though because it was on for a while the other day and the tractor didn't seem hot. It's got to be for overheating right?

The orange light is electrical. It means your battery is low. Aftere you run it for a while it should go off after the generator charges. This is a common event with the 1500. It is not over heat.

Yep, when a column of steam billows out from the front of the tractor, or blows a hose off, etc.

There is no overheat indicator other than the graphic depiction just given.

Over heating is a rarity absent some damage to radiator or hoses.

Doug,The orange light on your ym1500 is overheating warning.The sending unit is located on top left side of engine between air intake and fan hub mounted alternator.It has a yellow wire that plugs onto it.If light comes on and engine isn't hot,prolly need to replace sending unit.Also need to check wire for any raw spots that could contact metal parts as this will cause light to come on.If you don't have access to a shop manual,I'll be glad to send you a copy of the wiring diagram.

Looks like I'm going to have to actually get in there in look. Everyone else is saying it is the charging indicatior. I'm more apt to belive you since you have the diagram. I should be able to trace it back without the schematic. Thanks.

Sorry that I may have misled you on the orange light. Best way I guess is to trace it to the sender. I'll run it down on my 1500.

I learned two things the fist week that I owned my 1500D. 1) The orange light is the temperature light warning you that the radiators is about to blow and 2) A thermosiphon system will not function on pure anti-freeze. There should be no more than 40% anti-freeze to water to make it circulate adequately to cool the engine.
