I keep breaking the pin that holds my driveshaft to my finish mower. It is a 48" Yanmar. Does anyone have a thought as to why I might be snapping those pins? By the way, what are those pins called? I thought it was a drift pin but I am not sure that is correct.
Sure appreciate any thoughts.

Jerry, Shear pin? roll pin...Usually a shear pin so it will break before damage occurs... But why is it doing it so often, Is the hole rounding out..?:confused:

The reason it may be breaking is because it is not being replaced with a shear pin but a normal bolt???? Just a thought here that is all.

Are you easing the power take off in to gear or just slaming it home? Dropping the PTO at high RPM will break it almost every time.
