On my '98 L3010, there's a filter right below the foot rest/clutch area. It seems to be leaking clear fluid. Is this hydraulic fluid? Any idea how much the filter costs? I think I must have jarred it when running through the woods, maybe screwing up the gasket (if there is one).
What filter is this?

It is a hydraulic filter. The HST units have two filters. One is for the HST hydraulics the other for the hydraulics used for the FEL and rear remotes.
There is a gasket built into the filter. Best to replace the filter.

Thanks! Is this the one for HST hydraulics? I don't have a FEL. Will be going to the dealership asap for a replacement filter. What fluid do I need? Thanks again.

On my L3400HST the left side, under the clutch, is the HST filter. The right side is the hydraulics.
You should be able to see a large line from the engine mounted hydraulic pump that goes to a filter. That is the hydraulic filter, not the HST filter.
I use the Kubota Super UDT. The super is better for lower temps. In VA the regular is probably fine. The discussion of which oil is best will go on after the world ends.
This may be a good time to change the hydraulic fluid. The HST fluid shoud be changed periodically too. The manual gives suggested hours for that.

I'm guessing you are new to the tractor. There is a window for hydraulic fluid in the rear axle housing. It's on the left side, viewed from behind the tractor. If you see any fluid in there at all, it's OK. Ideal is in the middle.
If this is a new tractor to you, when you change fluid, also change the front axle fluid. It's separate from the transmission/hydraulic fluid. Drain each side and the fill is on the front axle housing. You can use either 80w-90, UDT or SUDT. I have SUDT in mine.
The Kubota has only 2 reservouirs. The back is the transmission, hyraulics and axle all itogether. The front is the axle.
It's a good machine - enjoy!
