I came across a case 1840 2001 model , appears to be in good shape,
dosent look beat , oils are full and look good , didnt see any leaks, runs fine and straight
BUT here is the kicker it shows 6000 hours on meter
The guy want 5k for it with on a smooth bucket
Pro's Con's any input would be appreciated good ,bad price or any info

Thanks Steve, I was concerned about the hour's dont know how long of a life they have onthe hydrolics and motor's

With all used machines, you need to do your best assesment and balance the thought of possible repairs that WILL come up with the price paid. Case builds a nice machine. I think it has a little Cummins in them (my old 1845c had) I have a 30k generator with the same engine and it has close to 9000hrs on it. The components that might be coming up with issues (that you can't see) are the drive motors, main pumps, drive chains, and the engine esp. the fuel sys. (injectors and pump) All of these things are rebuildable and shouldn't break the bank, just be aware that's what might be coming. Remember to use it and not abuse it at that age. Have fun!
