Buying Advice What do you advise?

I am thinking of replacing a John Deere 345 lawn tractor with a kubota GF1800(4WD), this tractor is a diesel with front mounted mower, the JD had a 54" mower, the Kubota has 48,54 or 60" mowers, I would probably go with the 54" again, because of the tree spacing and the uneven terrain. Please feel free to give your opinions and suggestions, price in Canada is $16,700.00 with a 60" side discharge mower, we have about 10 acres with hundreds of trees. Thanks for any help with this purchase.

I would advise never mow more than a half acre, and clear the trees on that parcel.

You're probably right, but with snow from October to May we like to see grass and lots of it for a while, besides it is a relaxing pastime, not to mention it give us a fire break since we are near a forest

I have had good luck with my x749 for that type of mowing and seems to meet your criteria. With 4x4, all wheel steer, 48", 54" and 62" mmm decks. I have it set up with the 3ph and rear 540 pto for a small chipper and an assortment of implements. The Yanmar diesel has been dependable and really like it too.

When you say " uneven terrain" . . I always think of scalping with wider decks.
Is there an option for a mulching deck? As an example . . my subcompact has 4 mower deck options . . the least known deck is the one I found and chose. Its a 54 inch deck with6 blades and NO side discharge. What I found is I can cut right up to trees or flower beds or whatever . . from either right or left side. 54 inches means 54 inches . . Instead of 54 inches plus 10 inch discharge chute. It also means no blowing grass into anything.

Just a thought. 10 acres is a fair sized lawn . . . but its a nice fire break sizing
