Punch a hole or just knock the bead loose?
Similar situation happened to me last summer, bush hogging brush a branch managed to get stuck between the bead and rim on rear tire, didn’t notice it until pulling into my yard and getting ready to wash the mud off, a little Beet Juice had leaked out but not much. Called local tire service outfit to come out and fix it, cost me $200 but I’m thankful it wasn’t a lot worse, all they had to do was compress the tire enough to pull the stick out. Now I try to be a little more careful about what I drive over.Speaking of tires...backed over an old split cherry or mimosa stump this afternoon when clearing for the power company to set their poles.
This is the result. Antifreeze spraying everywhere. I thought i blew a hose until the tractor leaned way over on that side. Good thing I wasn't on a side slope. Back tire on MT573.
I called and left messages at two different places, nobody called back.Similar situation happened to me last summer, bush hogging brush a branch managed to get stuck between the bead and rim on rear tire, didn’t notice it until pulling into my yard and getting ready to wash the mud off, a little Beet Juice had leaked out but not much. Your drawbar may not be sufficient to support the weight of the rear of the tractor. A jack under the drawbar support will be a better choice.I called and left messages at two different places, nobody called back.
Found another place that says they specialize in large tires and are a Goodyear dealer, but every time I tried calling them I get "mailbox is full" message. I think I will drive out to their place in the morning.
Their website shows photos of them changing tractor tires out in a field with a truck that has a small hoist mounted on it. Definitely would need that. My tire is 5' tall.
I didn't get a chance to look at the tire. I got my mini excavator there now to finish up clearing. I think I can hook a chain on the towbar and lift up the tractor so I can see the bottom of the tire.
Well, here is the damage. Sliced right through the sidewall. Amazingly, the tire guy said he has seen them fix sidewall cuts, but only when they are straight vertical. Mine is vertical for about 4 inches then turn 90deg for another 1 1/2". He said that turn is bad. He took it anyway and said he will have the repair guy take a look at it.Punch a hole or just knock the bead loose?
