What did you buy this week?

So wife and I Bought a new 1/2 ton GMC sle still way to many options I wanted or will use and figuring out some of the infotainment stuff is frustrating for me, however it's a crew cab kids and wife really like it. In fact my wife has uses the truck more than me so far lol Rides better and is far more economically efficient than my 3/4 ton with the 6.6. the Duramax 3.0 is really a nice engine surprised at the power, acceleration, and smoothness of it coupled to a 10 speed automatic. Granted I can't tow 20k with it probably shouldn't anyway with anything I own however With the money saved buying this instead of a one ton I'm putting the money into my 3/4 ton, with more functional options, upgrading it with a cp3 fuel pump conversion, beefing up the front end with aftermarket components and new wiring harnesses for the plow I got for it. I'm also addressing the rocker panels that just started to rust. I said in a different thread long ago jokingly I'd drive that 3/4 ton into the ground. Guess what, I am and appreciate the simplicity of it including the manual 4wd floor shifter to name a few functional non tech laden options both OEM and aftermarket. I guess my point is it's nearly impossible to find a basic crewcab work truck that isn't white with a few functional options I wanted and a Duramax anymore I looked, so I improvised built up my current 3/4 ton to last instead. When all is said and done I ended up putting way less than 1/4 the cost of a new 3/4 or one ton with a 6.6 Duramax in it and I've maintained it well. Minus a few rather inexpensive sensors that never left me stranded, both def and speed, it's only broke down once stranding me in almost 10 yrs (idler pulley failed throwing the belt over 500 miles from home, I think I even started a thread long ago on that ordeal. Any questions on either truck feel free to ask. If this needs to go in a different thread feel free to move it.

Bought GM camera that plugs into the 3500HD camera system to see the horse trailer interior. Had my Sundowner dealer mount it and run the coax cable up the tongue. Simple to touch the screen when in trailer mode to see the interior of the horse trailer. Keeps the wife happy to be able to see her babies when we haul them.

Thats cool. Ive been using a wireless camera in mine for many years. But yours has a much larger picture. I also feel better seeing them all standing while hauling.

Our 12-15(?) year old dryer died over the weekend. Almost certainly electronics, but I'm not going to spend hours troubleshooting, buying parts that prove that one was not the problem etc.

Couple funny things. We bought this Maytag washer and dryer set together. As I said, probably 12-15 years ago (when did appliances that cost near a grand become disposable? Used to be a brand new set would last a lifetime). The front load washer had the drum/bearing assembly replaced TWICE under the original warranty. So probably within 2-3 years of purchase? It hasn't failed since, although I have kept expecting it to, as it does make a fair amount of noise.

A few years ago I bought a Sears Home Warranty, that covers all appliances. We had a not-great-experience trying to use it on our Samsung fridge's icemaker. And then, part of the reason I paid for it, they covered annual cleaning/servicing of the heating and cooling systems. Well, apparently they can't find someone here in these boondocks to do so. So this summer I decided to cancel it.

So of course the washer is still good, and the dryer died just out of warranty.

Bottom line, in keeping with the title of this thread, I ordered a pair of LG units. I was rather surprised that Consumers Union was stacked with LG units at the top of their list. The Top 6 pairs on their list are all LG, getting grades from 88 down to 84, then the German (designed, don't know where made) Miele comes in at 83, and double the price of the highest rated LG.

I bought a Kreg pocket hole jig for a project I'm doing. I already have a place in mind on the shelf for it for the next time I'll use it... šŸ™ƒ
Great system. We have the basic "jig" plus their Foreman. We drill somewhere around 30-40k holes a year.

I'd really like a Castle machine but can't justify the expense, or space it would take up. Yes, it does a nicer job, but it won't save any time.

That's good to hear. I need to make a shallow frame to mount a mirror on, not in, probably out of 1x4 material, and this seemed like the best for my skill level VS butchering the heck out of a mortise and tenon or miter with pins or biscuits. Glue and screws! I also need to mount some 2x4s as non-load bearing perpendiculars between studs in some wall cavities without nailing in tight spaces. This will work well with a 90 degree drill driver.

I also have a few more projects I will use it for.
