Several places including Menards sell the Pleasant Hearth brand and they appeared lighter duty and lower build quality units. The Menards price on this one was $25 -$40 off other places. For example HD sells the same grate for ~$100. It is supposed to be HD, so went for it due to size, specs., price and web reviews.

Thanks for the input. We will probably burn between 1.5 to 2 chords a year based on this second winter living in our present home. I will continue to look for a heavy duty grate or perhaps get one custom made prior to this one getting totally shot. This hopefully works out for a few years.

This is the style I went back with. The bars are fairly thick. No matter what you have it will eventually burn through over a period of years from a hot fire.

Many years ago when I was burning wood in a fireplace I had a tubular grate with a blower it put out a lot more heat into the room then just a grate did.
Similar to one of these, prices have certainly changed since then!!

Is that a pretty good machine? Top, middle or budget? It has been so long since I spec'd a Windows machine that I have no idea what the hot gear is right now. I have been using Mac's provided by work for the last 10 years, that's how out of touch I am with the PC world.

I'm far from an amateur when talking computers , I took advice from others, as well as lots of reviews factoring in price.
I believe it's a good one for the money. The display (for LED) is very clear & good resolution.

Interesting concept!! It looks like some of these don't have blowers on them, do you think they rely on convection? The hot air would naturally blow out the top as cool air would rushed in from the bottom.

Mine had the optional blower and it pushed a lot of heat out into the room. Mine was a conventional fireplace with no heataltor installed in the masonry. The fire place is built into a 4x8 ft stone and masonry "chimney" from floor level through the roof by a few feet. It required a continuous fire for several days to warm up that mass and start to do much heating. The grate and blower got much more heat into the room.

That machine has excellent specs. It will do anything you want. My 3 Lenovo desktops and 2 Lenovo laptops all have an I7 processor with 16 gigs of RAM running Win 11 and Win 10, momma didn't want to switch. We do graphics using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for the stained-glass business. We have never had a memory issue and we do some intensive graphics.

Put in an offer on a condo overlooking Lake Ontario. Lake views from all windows. Main ones are floor to ceiling.
I can see Toronto across the lake.
Aboot 2200 square feet.
Two parking spaces/ one inside.
I'm beginning to think it's time in the next couple years.
Going to start wrapping up the Property this summer.
Hopefully recoup some of the money spent on the new tractors.
