Simple Tire. I am really impressed with their knowledge and service.

Bought about two to four sets per year from TR over many years, but after now being told by a representative that a tire is still new (and can be sold as such) up to four years after being made, I lost faith in them.

When I asked the rep if she would be comfortable taking her family up to 160 mph on my seven year old tires (bought there) she wouldn't answer. And that's after claiming that my tires would be just fine up to 10 years old.

It's extra odd when their parent company, Discount Tire, won't work on tires over 6 years old. That doesn't bother me since I do my own tire work, but since I never wear tires out - instead they age out - giving up 2-4 years of useable life would bother me a lot.
Where do you drive that allows 160 MPH

Who said it's allowed? The important part is that there's nobody around to disallow it.

I'd think a lot less about tire age if all I did was put around at 35 mph. And if there was cell service in more places...in case plugs or a spare won't fix the problem.

Unless you meant allows as in road sections straight enough to do it on. Those are quite rare around here.

I bought tires from Tire Rack once. I don't know how old they were at the time of purchase, and I can't say that I had any problems, but this conversation would definitely have weight on whether or not I would purchase from them again. The last several sets of tires that I've purchased have either come from local dealers or Sam's. Now that I'm retired, aging out could be a factor. Before now, not so much.
The Tire Rack started here in South Bend. My wife and I went to school with their children. Their family owns/owned several service stations, U-store places, and started the tire rack back in the early 80's. They do a lot of philanthropic work.

I've purchased tires from them off and on for close to 40 years. Just bought a set several months ago. Their warehouse here in South Bend does installations; it's the only one of their locations that does. I've never had any problems with any tires purchased there. A few years ago they sold it to Discount. As far as I can tell, all the same people work there. For that matter, a good friend of ours currently works there. Another friend started there and now manages one of their stores out west.

They have a track out front, do a lot of tire testing, and hold events for car clubs, autocross, police training, etc... they can turn the water on the track for wet surface...

I'd buy from them again.

I discovered a Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am almost identical to the one I wrecked as a kid.
Only option missing is the factory CB.
It has under 10,000 miles and hasn't seen sunlight in over 25 years.
Body and mechanicals are all original and matching. Tires are dry rotted. I'm assuming houses and other rubber seals etc to.
There's another guy bidding but I'm pretty sure I can top him.
Christmas a bit early?
F it. I got tired of $100 dollar increases and waiting for the next call.
I jumped it from $18...K to $30K.
Perfect original body. Mechanicals were all good when parked by the ladies husband who was partially paralyzed by a stroke way back.
I think it's well worth it even if it needs some refreshing.
Plenty of oem and after market parts available.
The paint needs a good buffing. Even the screaming chicken looks good.
I can pretend to be 17-18 again.
I pick it up Monday.

I beginning to think you are the Happy Hippie from up that way..... or someone like him.

Bid $33,568.32...some weird number like that.
That's how I won the bid on a car I wanted last year.
