As Frank requested here is a Christmas post. I got this computer I use so much as an early Christmas present.

I bought Ava a bunch of Disney princess figures, a Thomas the train playset and a bunch of other things. My parents bought her a Baby Alive doll that you feed and it pees and poops its diaper. So the three things mentioned all stopped her in her tracks and she wouldn't open any more gifts until she was able to play with those three.

The picture is her with her new laptop computer. I am the ugly guy in a turtle suit on the right:rolleyes:

Yeah, my Mom was trying to help her with it and she couldn't figure it out so Ava had to bring it to me to show her how to switch programs. It is a neat little system designed to teach kids how to use computers as well as teach them letters and numbers.

Here is a picture from when she first came downstairs and saw all the gifts Santa left. She was very happy and about a third thru her gifts she started digging thru the presents looking for one she thought was the Baby Alive doll as she asked Santa for that and toy dogs. It was funny as she kept digging to the back of the pile of her gifts hoping to find it:) I really did have a lot of fun today and my brother bought me a wireless keyboard so I can type on my laptop without it having to be on my lap. It makes typing so much easier but I have to retrain myself to useing a larger keyboard. But it has a number pad and that is something I use a lot.

Ava is at that age that makes Christmas fun for the whole family. Fortunately is lasts several years. My 10 y.o daughter and 16 y.o son still add exscitement to Christmas. The gifts do tend to get more expensive as the kids get older (wait till Ava asks for a REAL laptop - it will be here before you know it). But, its still fun.

Nice photos. Thanks for sharing.

Well, she already uses the desktop to play games on NickJr and Noggin so I figure that will keep her happy for a while. Of course the price of laptops isn't too bad anymore and with the wireless feature it would be nice as I wouldn't have to run wires to her bedroom or playroom.

She learned how to print pictures by herself and now she is printing pictures off of NickJr so she can color them. She is a smart kid and some times she scares me with how smart she actually is. I think she even dumbs things down for me at times:(

Robert,
I can remember when my son was small and the Thomas train set. He had all the die cast models and the wooden train set. The year he got the wooden train set I made the train table for it. He would help me while I was making it, but never knew what it was. I put it on casters so we could roll it around. Now everything is packed away until he has children.

He is seventeen now so this year he wanted money. He bought a larger amp for his electric guitar:eek: . He received enough money from grandparents, aunts and uncles to buy another electric guitar. I am going to build a sound proof room at the new house:( . My wife and I decided not to get each other anything since we are building the house.

Ava is a sweet looking little girl. The picture of her brought back memories of my son at that age. That is a precious time.

Sounds like our boys have something in common. My son used his Christmas money for a new guitar as well. However, he was at the store before Christmas and found a good deal on a "gently used" one. My wife let him get it then with the caveat that he gives her the Christmas money he received yesterday. I've reminded her that today is loan shark collection day, before he conveniently forgets and spends this money again.

I am going to look into buying the Thomas the train table as it is short for kids and looks like a decent setup. If it is too expensive I am going to have fun and build her a table. Her brother got a bunch of Geo Traks 4 years ago and I built a 4'x8' table (it was heavy as I built it solid so he could climb on it and not worry about the table sagging over time). By the time all the tracks were set up it had filled the entire table. We had a lot of fun playing with that set as he had three trains that would keep going round and round. Like all boys I loved playing conductor and keeping the trains from crashing, Aiden liked to contradict my best efforts though so it was never a good day for the passengers of those trains:(

I am hoping to go to the store either tomorrow or next week and buy a couple more sets to go with the one set Santa gave her since she loves it so much.

I am still sad to see Christmas go as it was the best Christmas I have ever had and I can thank Ava for that. Take care and keep up the great work with the house. It is looking amazing.
