Now that I'm getting a little older, I need to outfit myself a little better for this snow pushing job my wife expects me to do, and I'd like a bit 'o advice from you folks that brave the bitterness WITHOUT a cab or cover over the old orange machine. Should I bundle up like a snowmobile driver or more like a cowboy with a long insulated western duster/Australian drover's coat and such? Since I don't use a snow blower, I don't think a lot of eye/face protection would be needed. I think #1 priority is keeping dry , #2 is keeping warm...true????

Carhart bibs & jacket, baseball hat with a stocking cap pulled down over the top, well insulated gloves, 2-3 pair socks, 10" laceup boots. Oh yeh, long johns, a turtle neck undershirt, and insulated shirt. The toes and fingers are the first to start hurting

20 dollar snow bib from walmart, carhart jacket ,hat, snow pac boots and gloves. If it close to 0 degrees or colder, ill add a pullover and use warmer mittens.

I wear fleece long underware, wool socks, lined Carhart bibs, hooded Carhart jacket, fleece hat, leather gloves with fleece liners, neck warmer, and insulated boots. Wish I had a cab!

I put a canopy on the ROPS and threw a $80 golf cart cover over it ...if you install a cigarette-lighter/accessory socket you can have an electrically heated seat cushion on a budget.

I hop on the old green machine, not orange, but I think I hold the record for the coldest plowing this year (a couple times below -10degF, -25degC), so here goes.

I have lots of ski and sledding gear from my pre-JD days, so it's now become ski/sledding/plowing gear.

Usually ski socks, with big old Sorel's, long underwear, thickness dependent on temperature, ski pants, base layer shirt, a number of baselayer jackets/softshells based on temp, goretex shell if it's windy or snowing, and a toque. Any colder and I'd add a balaclava, as well as some ski goggles. If I had a blower I'd have those on all the time (I use my FEL and back blade). I wear a pair of tight work gloves, with big mitts overtop. That way I can pull off a mitt and still be fairly dexterous.

Did it one evening while it was still snowing, and I ended up with a damp bum!!! Gotta make sure you wipe off the seat whenever you get back on. Staying dry is crucial!!!

I would never buy any of the gear above just for tractoring, but it all works great, and is very comfortable, so I use it.

Didn't think I'd ever want a cab on my CUT, until my first night plowing in the bitter, bitter cold....... I've changed my mind!!! Next go around......

I wear Ice Armor, jacket and bibs. It's designed for ice fishing, is 100% wind and water proof and worked great when plowing last month. Cabelas sometimes has it, or you can get it direct from clamcorp.

I wear the usual winter stuff for me, jeans, 2 prs of socks inside Sorels, t-shirt, old army shirt, sweatshirt on top, then a pair of old ski pants that come up to chest height with suspenders. Over that, what I've found most useful, is a very light rain suit/windbreaker 2-piece outfit... Pants pulled up over the ski pants, then my regular insulated winter jacket, then the jacket portion of the rain suit over that, with a hat and the rain suit hood over the top of it.

Gloves I haven't really worked out yet, yes, fingers are the first to go! I just come in after a bit and swap gloves for another (warmer) pair. I use a front-mount blower on a red SCUT, and the rain suit thing works very well at shedding any blowback. (Also use it on my motorcycles...:D Very light, stuffs into a small bag, easy to carry, very effective.)

PS- Kinda hard to see the suit, I guess.... this was one of our first snows this year- 4" followed by 1" of rain.
