I worked a part time job in retail for a few years.... listening to 'Jingle Bells' 457,000 times really lowers the tolerance for X-mas music. :D I don't want to hear it in a store before the day after Thanksgiving and I absolutely refuse to listen to in the car, house etc. ;)

As for X-mas decorations available before Halloween... I saw an article the other day that retailers are having 'Black Friday sales' before Thanksgiving to get a jump on sales. Some are starting now.

"Xmas" is a common abbreviation of the word "Christmas". It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but it, and variants such as "Xtemass", originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation, /ˈkrɪsməs/. The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for "mass",[1] while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ".

 I got the first sentence...

I was just going to mention TSO; have seen them twice. Great show, but definitely rock...

This year, they come to Sacramento on Nov-20; kinda early, but I guess when you have a worldwide tour...

Otherwise, I agree with a couple other posters day to a week before Christmas is ok. This stuff with the BUY BUY BUY season starting a couple weeks ago is out of control... Stuff has been in some Sacramento area stores for a couple weeks already...

A little Christmas music goes a long way with me, can listen to TSO for a short while. Would choose all day Christmas music to Fox "news" any day all year.

just wanted to add, most stores any more can't even wait till after holloween to put christmas items on the shelf and playing the music. kind of distracts from the hollidays before christmas for me like thansgiving. before all the relatives come over try to find something to clean the yard up at autumn and it's all replaced with sale christmas items. has anyone went to walmart lately and been driven crazy with the old spice guy? had to thow that in, but really, wouldn't it work better to wait till the last holliday was over before starting another and not always having a shortage of the sale items at christmas when they are on special? then having an after christmas or whatever holliday sale?

...to Fox "news" any day...

It's too bad that there are so many folks that can't seem to discern the difference between a "commentary" program and actual "news" broadcasts...
There sure seems to be a lot of (FNC) detractors that can't tell the difference...but then again...those that believe that mainstream broadcast networks only tell the truth without a bias have been "misled" for so long they're prejudice without realizing it...

...has anyone went to walmart lately...

Nope. I usually try to avoid Walmart if at all possible.

Honestly most of my shopping this year will be online. I already have a few presents that I picked up watching E-bay and other web sites for deals. The rest will be purchased soon and shipped. I may get a few things locally. I do enjoy a little shopping during the holidays if I'm not in a hurry. I get such a kick out of watching everyone else stress out. I must have a deranged sense of humor.
