What are the odds?

I think this would be an interesting thread but could easily wander outside of parts/repairs.

My "What are the Odds?" question comes to you today from our proud sponsor "Grease Fittings".

On greasing one of my fittings I noticed the grease coming back out of the fitting when I took the grease gun off. Ok no biggie..figured it got dirty or damaged..sure enough upon close inspection it was flattened at an odd angle..probably from brush. So I go to put on another one and it does the same thing...now I'm thinking what the crap...no way a brand new one is doing the same thing so I look all over..cant see anything wrong at all...try it again...still letting grease escape. So I grab another new one and it works...what is going on?

Is it really that common or is there a trick I am missing for these things?
Anyone have the same issues?

I would say you got the one new one that had a bad spring or missing spring and it did not seat the ball back, or you got the one built on a friday

There are probably more qualified authorities out there than I am, but my only suggestion is that those fittings were bad or defective. Only a hypothetical guess. Possible? Perhaps. You didn't mentioned where the fitting was. You mentioned the possibility of brush causing it. Happy Tractoring.:tractor::tractor:

I'm guessing the "Made in China" dragon reared its ugly head again.

I agree.. first fitting was damage.. 2nd fitting was junk..

Ive had bearings with grease fittings that did that before and I's had to clean out the bearing completely before I was able to get the grease fittings working again. The back pressure from the dirty grease caused anything but the tightest fittings to leak, but that tractor was in pretty rough conditions to make it that dirty.
