Welding rod question and help

Is there a guide for certanium welding rod?
I need to weld cracked mild steel, and cracked hardened tool steel.
How do I determine what I need? There web site is useless. Any ideas were I can get the rod? Online sales are fine.
Is there a representative that knows there stuff I can talk too? Certanium is the only stuff I know about, if there is other stuff I would appreciate any info.

Google Eutectic welding rod. They make good stuff. Thier website should be helpful to you.

My experience with Eutectic and Certainium goes back a long way......If you talk to professional welders you'll realize these expensive rods are all designed for either special purposes or inexperienced welders ......

Yes, they do make good products but nothing beats practice to achieve the skill to use normal everyday rods that can be purchased anywhere welding supplies are sold....

Myself, I would runaway fast from salesmen who sell this stuff.....

Matching the alloy of the rod to the base material (work piece) is desirable. Recommendations are hard to make well when the alloy you are working on isn't known.

What didn't you find useful about Certanium's website?

Cracked mild steel falls more into the category of procedure / technique, than welding rod.

i agree... other than prep and grind I usually don't go to great lenghts of special rods for plain mild steel. just penetration depth and size and rod type for the machine i'm using.. IE.. ac only or ac/dc...
