you could use a commercially produced soil sterilant. Typically 1 application will last 10 years and you wont have to worry about weeds again. Long run very cheap and once and done kinda approach. https://alligare.com/products/bromacil-40-40/

AND...... if their is leftovers a good deterrent for those punk boys that hang around our daughters as it mixes with all kinds of stuff like beer, pop, etc.......(haha)

Weed burning torch. Scorching is usually enough, no need to char & disintegrate. Re-sprouts may demand re-treating in season.

I have a mile long gravel driveway. If I were to rid it of weeds - something like the old grind recommends - weed burning torch.

However - my driveway is an "old fashion" farm driveway. Mainly grass with a few weeds - both sides and down the center. Tends to stabilize the surface material.

I DO mow the sides and center - a couple times each summer.

How do you all keep the weeds down around the barn. I have a stone pad and the weeds are relentless. I tried with my box grader but it fills up and doesn't cut the weeds unless i dig it in. Trying not to use a lot of weed killer. but by late summer you can't even tell there is gravel there.

Well you should have put down geotextile before the rock! You will always be fighting it if you dont grade it off, put down a fabric barrier, and compact it back.

What about Calcium Chloride? People claim leaks in CCL filled tires ruins grass.

I use glysophate and it works just fine even 2 feet away from garden produce.

There are only a few options: mechanical (weed whacking and mowing), chemical, or burning. I have never had success with concoctions such as vinegar and soap, or any of those non-toxic recipes. Weeds are growing in gravel because they are tough.

There is a acetic acid that's for Ag use, but it needs to be handled pretty carefully. Much lower ph value than vinegar.
