I have a Husqvarna straight shaft, bicycle handle trimmer.
I don’t understand how it can get away. It clips into the harness that’s around your shoulders and chest.
When clipped, there’s no way you feet or legs can reach the blade.
Even with the blade up in the air, it’s takes effort to reach out your arm to touch the head.

That's what I was wondering, whether people were using these without the harness.

I've got a walk behind trimmer with a 5hp engine which might cut down on your time.

i wish, I have to climb up and over all different things. its a nightmare. was honestly looking at one of those articulating flail mowers till i saw the price and it wouldn't fit my tractor

I can't tell you how they can get away, but I can attest to the fact that they can. I personally know a County worker that almost had his neck chopped in two with one. He described the incident as it flinging back on him when he hit a rock or stump. Perhaps it jerked out of his hands? He was fortunate in that it only took about 50 stitches to sew his neck up.\

I, ashamedly, use one with a blade and no harness nor bicycle bar handles. I guess I'd better change my ways while I still have all my body parts intact. Clearly, they are very dangerous for both the operator and anyone nearby.

I cut lots of woody plants and I put the blade into the dirt below ground. This dulls most of the metal blade that are designed for a weedwacker... This is what I use and it has never gotten dull... Is it safe, most likely NOT but it works great for cutting... Carbide tips.

Husqvarna brush cutter 323L

this was the one that I bought in 2006 (now discontinued, but there are similar models.) I had the 3 point tri-blade or sawblade on it and it went through most everything in quick order, including 2" trees. I have probably 1500 - 2000 hrs on it, and have now replaced it. I prefer the older model. Amazing for all areas of the property.

it came with a harness and handles, but I did not want to be attached to anything this wicked, so I had them remove that.

it has the string trimmer reel, but I never use that

I have a lighter duty Echo trimmer with the 3 plastic prongs / tines ... no comparison

the Husqvarna with the BLADES is an absolute beast.

about $700 Cdn at the time ... and worth every cent. prices have dropped closer to $500 Cdn now

I have more hours on this thing than any other equipment, including tractors and mowers

Do not use the Milwaukee trimmer with a blade, unless you want to break it.
I use the M18 for grass and weed trimming only.

I have an FS110 with bicycle handles and a renegade blade (red).
I found the Stihl and Oregon blades dulled too quickly in the larger autumn olive and berry vines.
