We are making a pergola and a patio. Issues have begun.

Getting electricity to the patio and a fountain, IN MY SMALL BRAIN, everything has all gone to hell. I was going to use 1- 1/4 pvc pipe to run, in conduit, extension cords to the pergola, and from the pergola to the fountain. The entire feed to any thing out doors, was always GFI. There is no problem there. Everything, I come up with, as a solution is just too ugly, and non-code. I can't get, if i was to do it the right way, something that transitions this first pic into the second pic, which would be a pulled wire instillation and up to code. Have any of you ever seen an all weather cover that adapted an out door, horizonal outlet to a 90 degree junction to go under ground? I can't find one. I can't even find an extension off the existing box to add a down tube conduit to be in code. Is this just not a thing ever made?

Since I don't need the outlets if they are on the pergola anyway. I can't find any sort of out door cover plate for the transition.

I think code would want you to have box extender by the same manufacturer, and as the extension is now in the elements, it would need to be enclosed. An inspector might let you off for a waterproof box mounted to an existing box, but I would doubt it, as that isn't the intended use.

I think to be truly at code, you would need to run romex from the outlet in the wall to an adjacent (surface mount) waterproof box that could feed your conduit and act like an LB.

An extension cord in a conduit is unlikely to meet code due to temperature heating of the cable, if the cable is even of a type that can be in conduit. I believe that you will need wires.

JPR, the local big box hardware stores have some thing like this but they don't mount to the existing outlet box, they mount using external side straps, and they are not pass through from the rear.

The one I referenced is an extension box. The entire back is open for access to the box it's mounted to. Mounted to the box with extra long device (or blank cover) mounting screws.

If it has to be to code, why not ask the inspector what he wants to see? When I built my barn, I had a question about code and called the city building department and asked them. They were quite helpful. They will, of course, expect to see their recommendations implemented when they come out for the inspection.

Found the extension box referred to JPR. Thank You! Found it at a much smaller ACE Farm Supply and Hardware store. This will work perfectly with 1/2 PVC and stll give me the exterior outlets.
