Water pump for C-144

Discovered today that my waterpump is starting to seep a little out weep hole, so pump is on its way out. does anyone know where i can get one and about what it will cost? also, does this pump cross with any other tractor? I know the Massey 1010 is basically same, but the pump on it has a small bypass hose. the Hinomoto does not. Does any one know of a dealer to purchase one from? E-mailed hstractors, and just waiting on reply from them as one source. Thanks for any info!!

just called local napa, and they do not send waterpumps out for rebuild. any other suggestions? new one is about $200

This thread has got me wondering. I noticed a random rattle / mettalic sound to the front of my Iseki TE 4270 over the summer months. It was usually worst at startup, but could appear at any time on idle for a few seconds then go away again. Much as I tried I could not source the problem. I envisaged all sorts of problems such as cracked rings, valve springs broken etc, but had to rule each out as the sound was too random and seemed to be at the front of the engine block.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I took some time last week to start her up, strip off all engine panelling and listen carefully for the source. Finally I determined it was the cooling fan touching a light metal tab on the housing hence the mettalic rattle. Once found I discovered that there was about 5mm play at the end of the fan blades. The fan is securely mounted to the water pump flange, so I have to determine that the bearing in the pump is going out.

The question is what to do.
I have cleared the tab that was causing the noise.
There is absolutely no leak to the pump and to be honest, this "play" could have been there for the past 1000hrs. I never had reason to check before.
Why is the pump not leaking?
What is the chances of the bearing disintegrating?
Would you just keep on tractoring until it grinds up or leaks?

The repair manual lists a water pump repair kit which includes the bearing and seal, but there is a good chance this is no longer an item held by the distributing agent given the age of the machine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks for the phone #. dont know what shipping to napa would cost, but I see you are in NC, and I am in central Oklahoma. might be more to go this route than to buy new. I tried all stores around my area, and they say the same thing(we do not ship out to have rebuilt). thanks for the thought anyway. maybe someone closer to my area will chime in with an idea. thanks again!

Replace or repair the pump before it goes through the radiator. I supply Iseki parts.

i am the same who sent an e-mail to you requesting price on a pump. that is the way i am probably going to take. also you mention that you supply iseki parts. is this pump the same as iseki pump? thanks for your reply!!

It is not the same as an Iseki. I should have typed hinomoto parts instead of Iseki.

can you get most parts for C-144 such as headgaskets, injector pump, alternators, starters and such? right now no major problems known except water pump, but you never know. tractor only has 544 hrs on it, and i pull a 5ft finish mower with it. mower is little heavy for it, and am looking at trading it for a 4ft if i can find one in my area. if you can get about any part, then you are definately on my contacts list!!! I can get the parts that are still available eithe rfrom US or Japanese supplirs. I do have a couple C174 parts tractors, which has many parts that are common to the C144.
