Our hummingbirds love our feeder....unfortunately, so do the wasps. Its difficult for the birds to get in and drink when there's a bunch of wasps on the feeder drinking the sugar water also.

How do I get rid of the wasps without hurting the hummingbirds? Or is there no fix for this?

I heard once that putting crisco around the openings in the feeder would keep wasps away, could be just BS I do not really know

Happy to report that a little dab of cooking oil on each hole will definitely keep the bees and wasps away from the feeder. Thanks for the tip!

I use one of those electric zappers that look like a racket. I think the hummers just hover when I'm out there w/it just to see the pesty wasp/hornet "spark out"
By the way, I don't know about you guys but I'm going through 4# of sugar a week now for the past 3-4 weeks. I guess the "kids" have arrived.

We had a hummer going to our clematis on the window trellis and pausing to look into the kitchen- came back several times, perching then flying off to check the other flowers in the yard.
