Ah the joys. Win some , loose some. Job still made money at the end of the day.

Got a job for a 4.2 acre field. First time cutting it. Took it easy. Cut the whole field but left a high area by a bean field. It had combine ruts and a few v ditches.

Went to take a final pass and cut lower by the beans. Well we’ll, looks like someone found some boulders I then found. A average large pumpkin size Boulder lay in a v ditch awaiting.

Soon as I heard the hit I lifted , but apparently so did the Boulder. This son of a gun juggled in my blades till I shut the pto down. Then just plopped down and rolled out the side.

Results , broken blade , tore up deck, profits loss.

New set of blade and a little welding. We will be back to beating this thing up some more.

Brush hogging a new property is always the same... "There's nothing in that field".
I cleared an old 5 acre field some years ago for a neighbor's commercial construction job. The disgruntled man from across the road peppered the field with cinder blocks and rebar. Fortunately I saw the first few, and cleared it all out with the loader, and the contractor (neighbor) loaded it all up in a dump trailer and dumped it in the disgruntled man's front yard.
Sorry to hear of your incident.

Fresh set ready to beat up. Yep always the same it’s clean. I get a lot of jobs in the city by me. I’ll be darned if every home from the 80s back didn’t come with out it’s own garbage dump.

Before I had a trash pump I used my snow blower on my Ford 1700 to dewater a pond. You would be surprised how well this really works.

One year I just backed a little too far out into the pond. I found how deep the mud was when I tried to motor out. Took the better part of an hour and a half to extricate with a hand come along.

That's the most bent blade I've seen.

Ouch!
Thanks for reminding me that my blades need to be sharpened.

I cut a new field this year. Tall weeds hid a big chunk if concrete. I was sure glad I had taken the old mower with the chain conversion. Chains tolerate rocks pretty well.

Well, it's a little late now, but I never cut with out having my bucket down or my grapple. Even on fields I've done before. If I can't see the ground I don't trust what's there.
