Warranty issue dispute with Kubota - Advice anyone

The whole learning point of this thread is that if there's a problem with the tube between your rad bottle and the radiator cap neck you will have the same result as the OP. Rad bottle is full. Radiator is not. So unless you are removing the radiator cap every time you open the hood you are susceptible to the problem he has.

We don’t know for certain which tube or hose failed. An L4701 has an oil cooler hose that carries coolant from a low point in the engine water jacket to the oil cooler. If this hose were to become punctured, the block would completely drain and the radiator would drain to a level even with the bottom of the water pump inlet. My unconfirmed suspicion is this particular hose was compromised. A failed hose between the radiator and recovery jug would not drain the system more than about halfway down the top radiator tank, after which the system would cool just as well as an older system without a recovery tank.
In the absence of the OP this is all speculation, but would fit in with the facts we have.

I'm "all in" on this philosophy. That makes perfect sense.

I'm also "all in" on no warranty.

You might be on to something. I still think there should have been some cues. i suspect the OP thought something wasn't quite right, but didn't know where to look. To make matters worse he ran it at full throttle for a while several times trying to get it to regen. That sealed the engine's fate

This is the OPs other post

"Kubota 4701HST stalling out

My Kubota L4701HST will run fine for about 15-30 minutes, full throttle, then will suddenly act as if under a great load and stall out. Will not recrank for 15-30 minutes. Then cranks and runs fine for a little while. Thermostat gauge not showing hot, but seems to take a long time to start moving up - It could be a bad gauge and is simply hot and not showing accurately. I also have been unable to get the DPF to regenerate. Has worked fine until lately. Lights are on, have tried to force it to run in Park, but no luck, will not ever clear when I run in full throttle. Run/-Min light goes off so it is getting enough RPM. I bought a new thermostat to install, but am now concerned that it is nothing to do with thermostat. My guess is it is the DPF possibly? Thermostat or gauge and thermostat both bad - Other thoughts? Also I have seen several posts on other sites regarding DPF deletion processes, but noe that see to work for Kubota. Anyone been able to make that work? Thanks for any assistance. PS - I would take to dealer but they are so backed up, would lose my tractor for a month or more while it sits waiting for its turn to get fixed. "

Tractors: every time. Boat: every time. Generator: every time. Cars and trucks: once in a while... if I think of it...

I've looked and looked and looked, for a place to check the water on my tractor, I just can't seem to find a place to check for it!

I fear the OP has left the building, so we are left speculating based on the scraps of information we have. Perhaps there were no warning signs, but if it got hot enough to lock up the engine, I wonder:

  • No strange sounds?
  • No hot smell?
  • No evidence of leaking coolant?
  • No white smoke?
  • No perception of heat?

I feel bad for the OP, but I don't think he's going to get the warranty.

That link to his other post where he said that the tractor would start and run when cold but once it warmed up it would die and not even turn over. Right there was a giant red flag saying "something is wrong". I don't think he got the replies he was hoping for. I feel bad but the bottom line is when something is out of the normal continuing to use the tractor and waiting for it to get worse is not usually the cheapest way to identify a problem.

Long before it ran out of coolant it should of been running hotter than normal and then the temp gauge just not reading at all. At some point in time you have to accept that you must look at what the gauges are telling you.
