Walk behind "user grade" compost spreader?

I just purchased my first house.

Im quite familiar with lawn care, my farther has 39 acres in WV that i can keep his K21 type grass smooth and green. However my new house (in Frederick MD) with its TTF grass, Im not 100% sure how to handle it.

I need to spread compost, and its something that Ive been told I need to do 2-3x a year to help with the red/brown clay soil. My total lot size is 10000sqft, so with the house - Im one of the only people that use a push mower in the neighborhood, everyone else has a small rider.

Im looking for a push style spreader that I could purchase - and the searches are bringing up commercial grade stuff that I dont have the need for.

I do have a small tractor, a BX2660 in WV that I could bring up, but Id hate to use that just for spreading compost. Lots of gas MPG's lol.


So at the end, Im looking for a walk behind compost spreader.

I've seen them that look sort of like a perforated lawn roller. Fill the drum with compost, roll it and it slowly filters through the holes. Not sure how to find one or who makes them, but it's worth Googling.
