Visa Question?

Finally filled my federal taxes today at about 2 PM along with paperwork trying to get my FIL a visa to visit the United States from the Phillippines. He has always wanted to visit the US and we can now afford to have him visit. He says that he can handle the cold but we are looking at a summer visit (he has never experienced really cold). Question is... how long does it take to receive a State Department Visa? He is currently working on getting a passport from the Phillippines (been there done that with lots of bribes). My wife and I love out BLUE passports... had a brown Offical US Goverment passport once... Sh#$ canned that one quickly... Did'nt like being a target!

Depends on the Embassy or Consulate personnel. Check the State Dept website for the VISA gouge once he finally gets a passport. Usually the quickest way is to do it in person if possible with all the photos and paperwork already done. Many places require appointments as well. Good Luck. It seems like many of these places were trained by veteran DMV or Social Security bureaucrats.
