Chipper Video of my little chipper

Made a video today of my little chipper in action. I just replaced the engine on it. It had a 25hp, but a new 25hp was around $3k all said and done. I put in an 18hp engine, seems to run just fine, and it was half the price.

Unfortunately, the battery on the camcorder died right in the middle, and by the time I figured it out, well, all the branches were chipped up. I'll try to do a follow up later.

Nice looking chipper, I'd like to have one like that, but tough to justify because I don't have frequent enough need.

I had a good burn last weekend instead.

Long as you chip small stuff like you were doing in the video, that 18hp should do just fine. The telling tale will be when you try and run the bigger stuff through it. Do you know what the max size material that chipper is rated for??

I would love to get a pto drive chipper like that. I have been contemplating the best way to clear some land here at the house. It is infested with 4-6 inch pines that are next to impossible to push over or dig up with my FEL.

This is a ProMark 210 and can do up to 6". ProMark offered it with 2 different sized motors - a 25 hp and an 18 hp.

I put in a B&S Vanguard pro series motor.

When chipping the small stuff, I normally run it right around 2700 RPMs (idle is 1600 RPMs). If I have big stuff to do, I can crank it up to 3600 RPMs, where the max torque is for that motor. Actually, I've run 5" stuff through at 3,000 RPMs without any problems.

But, pretty much, anything 3" and above is firewood. If it is late in the day, it may become 4" and above, just because the small stuff is really a pain for firewood. You spend too much time cutting, carrying, and stacking it. Does make good kindling, though.
