Hello Jeff,
Beautiful ! I have owned a couple used '77's and a new '85, but I lusted for a 1962 Vette, that is, until I drove one. Great looking, but not a comfortable driver and with the prices in the $35K plus range, I bought a new 2000 Vette Conv. in August of 1999. It is a great machine.

I had the same reaction when I first drove my '68, 327/350, 4 speed coupe. Drove and rode worse than a truck. Still wish I had it, though! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I actually find it a pretty comfortable driver as long as the roads are good. I have the F40 or F41 heavy duty suspesion and it is a bit much on bad roads. The real problem is the side exhaust...how did Chevy ever get what amounts to a car with no mufflers other than a few crimps along the side pipe to baffle the sound a bit? Of course I tell people that it's all relative...my wife and I went from a Harley Ultra Classic dresser to the Vette. It wasn't unusual for us to hop on the bike in Detroit and head down to Charlotte in one day (700+ miles). Compared to that the Vette is a picinic. I have only had one opportunity to ride in a '69 vette and that was quite a while before I got mine. I suppose with the same frame and all they drive pretty much the same. Still stellar compared to the solid axles.

I also wanted to get a solid axle but a '58, two tone red and white or turquoise and white. This was the most gaudy year and well, when it comes to Vettes from this era I say the gaudier the better! Unfortunately my wife needed only one look at the big block hoods on the '65 and '66 and that's the one she wanted. What can I say, I'm just happy she gets into this stuff. Makes life a whole lot easier!

There are many a day when I am tempted to trade the Vette in on a new one. Unfortunately I like the no depreciation thing and I have lately been living in those states where they kill you on a yearly vehicle tax, highway use tax, property tax or what ever each state calls it. My buddy gets nicked by close to $1000 a year on his '98 Vette. Just doesn't seem right giving Uncle Sam money so I can own a nice car./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Maybe someday after kids.

Mike,
Vette season too short here in PA. Tractor season is much, much longer.

That is one fine looking example of American muscle. 425 HP ought to get that thing up and off the line in a big hurry.

Very nice. Many years ago I had a 71, 454, 390 HP T-top. In 74 I was sent to Germany, and everbody told me not to take it. So I sold it before I left. I just couldn't afford to keep it in storage for 3 years. I visited a few dealers while I was trying to sell it. One place had a 58 ragtop for $1800. It was a 283, auto, I think, and pretty well worn. But still, it was cheap even for back then/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif And I think the only thing missing was one of the wheel covers. I sure hated to pass on it, and since have wished I would have found a way to get it, and keep it stored. As far as looks go, I 've always liked the 63 split window.
