Massey Ferguson GC1705, John Deere STX46
Anyone heard of or attempted to build their own vertical exhaust on a compact Massey Ferguson? Recently purchased a GC1705 and thought it would look more "cool" with a vertical exhaust. May be crazy though as the current exhaust exits the side of the hood...

Thanks,
Jeff

4shorts and waxman both have built very nice exhaust stacks on their cab tractors. I want to put one on my open station also but just haven't taken the time yet. Does MF offer a factory kit? Kubota doesn't but I'm pretty sure john Deere has the option.

I have noticed the soot mark on my loader frame from the side/front exit of the exhaust on my jd 3005... I have also wondered if it adds to the blowing of chaff into the grill. I may concider rerouting it for thoes reasons. However, it will likely wait untill the warrentee runs out and I put a small turbo on it. An exhaust from a earlier mdl 790 would work if I didnt add the turbo.

Hmmm, it appears the tractor in question is a SCUT??

So you will need the exhaust to be at a height above your head and/or pointed away from you or you'll be breathing exhaust fumes off and on depending on prevailing breezes. So then, how would you work under trees or low hanging obstacles without hitting the exhaust??

My parents have an old B8200 that has a vertical exhaust and I don't remember ever smelling more exhaust fumes on it than my current 5240. I want to convert to a vertical exhaust on mine basically for the reasons that have been mentioned: soot on the loader, blows chaff/seeds/whatever up and clogs the grille, and just because I prefer the look. You are right in that it will be in the way occasionally but the roll bar is too is I don't see it being a big issue. Now I just need to find the time to do it.

Take my advice and get'er done. You won't regret it. Seriously.

Does the stack location impact being able to remove the side panel?
