I think either one is a solid choice.

I will say I see a ton more threads about people using Rotella. Not sure if that really means anything though.

I think it is mainly because Rotella is a very good oil and is widely distributed among retail outlets which makes it so readily available everywhere.

I agree the Valvolene oil would be very good also. I see no advantage of one over the other.

imho the only difference would be in the additive package of each oil. can't help with you on that, but probably an easy search.
can't go wrong w/either given viscosity range & diesel rating ... how does cost between the 2 come into play?
rest easy w/either......

The most important difference that people are not covering is the color of the bottle. Which one is going to match your tractor the best, a light blue with more white or darker blue with more blue label. You need to accessorize correctly because there is nothing more embarrassing than having the wrong colors when out and about.

In all seriousness, get the one that is cheaper/easier to get/sold at your favorite store/sold by the cashier you have a crush on/??? Either one is going to work great for you, if you were running a several thousand horsepower engine or something else very very very extreme the additive package might matter.

I don't really see much of a difference between the two. I use T6 simply because I need about 10 quarts and I can order it from Walmart with free 2 day shipping for something like $22/gallon. One of the local autoparts stores (that just got bought out by Oreilly) sells the Extreme blue but it works about to be about $20 for 3 gallons and I have to go pick it up.

I tried premium blue extreme once, good oil. But the downside is that its a diesel only oil, T6 can be run in gas engines too. Everything except my truck runs T6.
