I am looking to purchase a UTV. I own 10 acres of land and would like something to work around my property. I would like something with 4 wheel drive and possibly diesel. I just need a working machine and some rides with the granddaughter.

I have been looking around for awhile....my biggest issue is comfort. I am 6-3 300 lbs 55 year old and cannot find a machine with adequate leg room.

Does anyone of a machine that would fit me?

Thanks

Take a look at the Kubota RTV's...Most of the UTV's are a little tight, but there is quite a bit of room in the Kubotas....Some of the newer UTV's (various brands)have adjustable seats.

Check out a Kioti Mechron before you buy.
I believe they represent the best value available today for a non-hotrod, working machine. I'm 6'2" and find it very comfortable, capable as well as a superb value.

Polaris still has the best ergonomics in such a machine. Though I enjoy my John Deere XUV 825i more day to day, it falls far short of my previous Polaris in comfort behind the wheel.

Kubota RTV 1140 is exactly right for me. One son at 6' 4" 340 lbs, other 6'6" 260 can drive/ride and still leave room for me, loads hunting gear, etc. Very tough machine, comfortable, pulls trailers, holds lots of gear. Helps my arthritis by reducing my steps. Only goes 25 MPH, but who NEEDS to go that fast anyhow. I have hard top and windshield.

Being in Maine I'm going to assume you get pretty good snow (unless it's like this year in MI where you get only one) but if so I love plowing with my diesel gator HPX. I didn't know I was going to at first but knowing what I know now I would get an RTV 1100 to plow snow. Cab in there is amazing and the blade is hydraulic.

I do love my HPX though. Awesome machine. I've never put it to all its limits because it's been pretty much a poop hauler (for horses) but its plenty fast enough to get to where I need to go but nimble and strong enough to get it done. I have plowed (in 4x4 with no weight in the back) about 3 feet in a single snowfall with ease. I was very surprised and thought for sure I'd have to get the 5410 (85HP utility) out to do the job but it got r done:thumbsup:

I had a Rhino for a few years and enjoyed using it round the farm. but If i would have known about Japanese mini trucks then I would have bought one over any UTV in minute.

They have a 6ft bed, only as wide as a Rhino and only about HALF the price. They also have heat !

I wish I had a Japanese mini also. We bought a Polaris Ranger in 2003. Has windshield, metal roof, back glass too. Never got the doors... Don't know why. It has been used almost daily around the farm for chores as well as just plain fun. I am 6'2'' and about 265 and have plenty of room. You can get almost any size and options on them now. I would still want the 500 cc model. It has had very few problems in its life here.

Those Japanese minis are awesome. Friend bought like 12 a couple years ago and was selling them, wish I'd picked one up now. They go like 60 and haul more than any comparable UTV.

What kind of leg room do you have? Where did you find your Mini?

You have nearly the same legroom as a car. Just google Japanese mini in ...

You will also see a bunch of customization sites (i.e. snow plows, tracks!, different bed options, etc.)

look at the kubota rtv 900 or 1140 series. i have a 900 and it is a workhorse. i use mine a lot. built real well. i have to get in and out a lot with what i do and i find it is pretty easy to do. bench seat and nothing on floor to get in your way. haul firewood, work on horse pastures, and take our 2 year old daughter for rides. enough room to fit my wife, daughter and me on the bench seat.

I have tried an RTV 900 and thought it was cramped. Is the 1140 larger?

Any info on where to see I can see a mini truck, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

1140 has more HP, larger. You just gotta decide if right 4 you. Can fold rear seat up and extend bed for larger cargo capacity. More people or gear, you choose.

Yes, an 1140 is different than most in terms of length. Not nearly as nimble in tight situations. Had to cross it off my list for the very reason, but the cargo box does have a lot more space in the bed than most other UTV's. If you don't need to go in tight situations and need something with the most cargo it would be worth a look.

Why I bought a RTV1140.:D As they say on the Airlines "Seven Souls and a Dog".
