What do you use your clutch for...on your HST tractor...just for engaging the PTO? Or do you use the clutch for other operations?

Just for the PTO and may or may not be required to start the tractor.

I suppose it may help some but, technically, you don't need the clutch to change ranges, since it has to be done with the tractor at full stop anyway.

I just need to get the rpm low enough to change range.

Owned an HST Kubota since 2004 and only time using clutch is for start;always lock down when not in use.Full stop for range changes.

25+ years with a Kubota HST, clutch use is limited to PTO only.

Yes^^ Using the clutch may be needed if the HST is not adjusted perfectly to have a neutral position. It can be difficult to change ranges if you have some creep or on a slope.

On our l5740 I never use the clutch except to start. I stop to change ranges. I have a GST a M series and the HST and to engage the pto no clutch needed. I do idle down to be easy on the internal pto clutch. On the M5, I have to be rolling to get the big bush hog spinning and not have the engine die. A 2810 is a lot of parts to start moving.
