I had a local welding shop add side plates to my grader blade to turn it into a box blade. I am finding that I need to add scarifiers to brake up the clay loam where I live. I saw that the Co Op has cultivator arms and points for a good price. would these work if I bolted them every 8 inches or so along the 2x2 cross bar??
Thanks

Well, to some extent yes, but I don't think they would stand up to real scarifier-type work. If you've seen a regular box with scarifiers, you know they are much tougher material than the somewhat lighter cultivators.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you will be happy doing it that way. Cultivators are usually used with the idea that the ground is cleaned of obstacles beforehand and rocks, roots and other material may just break them off.

This here is a pic of what we use to break fresh ground. I believe they are cultivators.First i go shallow then deep bringing up the rocks and such I place one behind each tire and one in the middle. I have more and different sizes but thats what i do 3 all together. I make multiple passes going deeper each time kriss kross and back and forth. Then i bring in the hippies to pick rocks. Then i make some more passes until were happy with the rock sizes and the looseness of the soil. Then I till and its fluffy fluff /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Those are more middle buster/potato plow than cultivator. They are much stronger than cultivator shovels.

Rippers on a boxblade are a totally different design, and are probably much stronger than cultivator shovels.

These that you are using would not be conducive to putting on a box blade.
