Using a BX as a mower/tractor

   / Using a BX as a mower/tractor #41
I have the BX25 and its a workhorse, I use it to cut 6.5 acres of lawn and fields and (60" MMM) and it does an awesome job. As far as excavating its fantastic but it does have its limitations. I'm currently putting up a polebarn and used the FEL and BH to cut the pad / driveway for it and it was able to do it with absolutely no problem, it just took a little more time than a larger CUT would have. If your running a 50 acre farm and need a tractor to cut hay, etc. the BX is not for you but for a smaller property, cutting grass, small excavating projects, maybe putting up some fence etc. the BX is a great fit you won't be disappointed. I've had mine for 3 years and I haven't found anything I needed it to do that it couldn't and then some.

I left Ohio in '72 courtesy of uncle Sam, and got married in 74 and stayed out west. I go back to deer hunt on occasion on my brothers farm.

My sister and her husband own and operate the Renick family market that is about 30 mi south of Columbus. If your sister ever went south, I am sure she saw it. Sarah Palin actually stopped there for pumpkin pie in '08 on the campaign trail, and the market sold the RNC all the pumpkins used in the McCain rally held in Columbus a couple days later.

I was sitting in a tree stand about 10 miles from the market when my wife sent me a text message telling me who was at the market :(. I know folks either liked her or didn't, but I did.

Well, three tractors for me would be about as quick to happen as winning the lottery, so I will try to figure a way to get one.

Thanks for that bit of info, that was the exact issue I was concerned with, so it sounds like they addressed it.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, I believe what you have said does help. And like TripleR said, one machine is always a compromise but the more I look at the the more the BX25 or similar machine does everything I would ever need here.

How hard is it to remove the BH, to use it as a mower? Otherwise it would look like a big orange scorpion running around the field:laughing:

You guys have been absolutely perfect here, and I much appreciate the honesty. I am

I've never removed my BH but most BX25 owners say it's really easy and only takes 2 to 3 minutes. There is a video showing a guy doing it in about 2 minutes some where. maybe I can find it or someone else will and they will post it.
Found it. Removing a BX24/BX25 Backhoe
OK less than 1 minute.

Removing to the BH is very easy, takes about a minute to do. I remove my BH and FEL once a week to cut grass. You won't be disappointed in the BX:thumbsup:

My wife had a BX1500 w/54" MMM, we traded it for a new BX1860 last year with the 54" MMM. She said she liked them both, but the BX1860 is a better machine, more comfortable and better handling, and a little more power. She cuts about 3 acres with it on hills and flat. Just "my"..."her" two cents worth.
