User/Service/Shop Manual for Yanmar 1500D

Greetings fellow 'Mini' tractor owners,

I have just bought a used Yanmar 1500D 4x4 mini tractor with loader ...as I always like to do when I purchase any used machinery, I like to do a complete service of all fluids..filters...etc so that I KNOW it has been done properly..
I was wondering if anyone out there can point me to a PDF or link to a manual that I can download as I do not even have a basic 'owner manual'!!

Welcome aboard. :welcome: I am not aware of any on line manuals for the 1500, doesn't mean there aren't any. Most I know of on line are for the US sold models. Yanmar Tractor Parts: MANUALS

I believe the 2tr15 engine in the 1500 is not used in any other models. Parts are probably as plentiful for it as any other model. Hoyes sight has parts drawings for the 1500. Yanmar Tractor Parts: YM1500_1500D

The YM1500D is considered a gray-market tractor, at least in the US, and as such there are no OEM English manuals for it. There may be some compiled by users.

Look on Ebay for I&T Yanmar YM1 Shop Manual 135 135D 155 155D 195 ... (the same manual also covers the larger Yanmars). About $25~30.

I don't know if this is the ideal first choice for a shop manual, for your YM1500. It is a good first choice for the US-version Yanmars from the same era so it will give you some idea of Yanmar's designs and specifications for similar models. These are all intentionally simple tractors designed to be owner-maintained with simple tools.

Hopefully someone can post a reference to something specific to YM1500. There was a file offered here by an owner a while back that was mostly a collection of TBN posts. I think simply searching the forum on 'YM1500' will return the same information, and show everything you need to get started - filter #s etc.

Check with this guy surely for a Operators Manual. Looks to be a 1500D in his CL. ad. And from the looks of all the Tractors on his Lot. I'm sure he's Fredricks supplied. Which you may ask them for a Parts or Owners Manual.

The original Yanmar part number for the oil filter is 124450-35100. A good, inexpensive and locally available cross-referenced filter is the Purolator L14459. There are also other cross-referenced filters available such as NAPA/WIX or you can order through one of the parts suppliers for Yanmar grey market tractors. I usually search around for a coupon code and place an online order for Advance Auto Parts and choose local store pickup. The coupon (usually a specific % off) will typically get me in the area of $3.00 or less for the filter. It seems that most of us tend to stick with a 15W40 diesel oil such as Shell Rotella T.

The Yanmar part number for the air filter is 124450-12510. It can be cross-referenced, but Hoye seems to have the best filter to properly fit the air cleaner housing. Yanmar Tractor Parts AIR FILTER - Premium Quality!

The hydraulic 'filter' is a mesh screen behind two triangular plates (one of which is the suction line) at the bottom, fwd portion of the transmission housing. Most of us typically use a universal tractor fluid (transmission/hydraulic oil) that meets/exceeds JD-303 specification and can be picked up at places like Tractor Supply Co, Wal-Mart or your local tractor dealer.

Standard 80W90 gear oil works well in the front axle.

The 'ThermoSiphon' cooling system does NOT have a water pump and the wrong coolant mixture can cause cooling problems. It is recommended to use no more than a 25% antifreeze to 75% water as the coolant ratio.

Thank you all for the welcome and information; "Bates Bunch" I think you have answered most of my needs, thank you; recently the PTO started leaking so I will need a seal and gasket for the housing....any suggestions on supplier?

Also, the brakes are a little bit......scary!!...they seem to lack stopping power...again, any suggestions for supplier.

Sorry about the ad. It was removed so it may have sold. It was posted from Georgia tractor co. If you didn't get to check with them. He's big on UTDA. so I would think there would be a Manual Esp. for Safety reasons. Your Brakes for example if there would become a problem. If you run out of Adj. on the linkage just remove the Brake cover and check for Rust est. Most of the time the Shoe can be Reversed and will last for Yrs. before having to replace them. Hoye or Fredrick should have them if needed.

Tell us more about the brake problem. Are you, by chance, mowing when you have a problem?
