What vehicles have gotten lighter in subsequent generations?

I had a Chevy Nova in the late 80s. Much lighter than even the two doors from the early 70s. Same with the Impala upthread.

I bought it while in high school in 1982. I parked it in dad’s garage in 1989 and didn’t dust it off again until 2013. I went back to take care of my dad and began working on the car again while I was there. I replaced the original 327 with an updated 383. I brought it back home in 2015. It just sits here in my shed now. I’ve only put about 10 miles since.

It may just sit now but atleast in this picture it looks good doing it
