Do any of you have a idea what is a fair asking price for a particular used snowmobile? My brother has a '85 Yamaha XLD with new bearings, track and its in pristine condition. He says he'll sell it to me for $750. Does this sound fair? I can't find anything on the 'net listing this model. Maybe b/c its rather old?

I thought some of you might be able to tell me about the price.

BTW, have any of ever owned or riden one of this model?

Thanks in advance,
coachgrd

For something like this, I would look for a similar item on e-bay.

Yamaha didn't make any sleds in 1985 did they? On their web site they show models in 1984 and 1986 but not 85.

I've never heard of this model so do you have any more info on it?

I wonder if my brother has the wrong year, or maybe he said '95??? I can't imagine him selling me a '95 for $750.00.

As for the sled, its a touring sled. I could have sworn he said "XLD, not XLT, its an XLD." I know this isn't much to go on but maybe I'll see if he'll answer an e-mail...he checks it twice a year: when he sets his clocks for daylight savings time, or so it seems. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hope this is a little help.

it depends on the area. Example, my bike is worth XXX dollars in the blue book or NADA but I can get twice that around here.

Well there is a model DLX which stands for deluxe. So you got the right letters anyway which counts for something. You can look at a DLX in this picture. The Yamaha is closest in the photo.

Now with the picture.

Any way you slice it to answer your question it's easily worth $750. My next questions will be is it liquid cooled or fan cooled. The difference really comes into the serviceability of the units. Liquid is more difficult to keep up.
