Used RTVs... Any Input ?

Looking at two used RTV 900s
1. 2007 with 700 hours, windshield, hydraulic dump, bumper, $8750.00

2. 2005 with 2000 hours hydraulic dump, bumper, box liner, $6000.00

Both appear to be in good condition. Are there any major improvements between 05 and 07 ? Is 2000 hours on a Kubota diesel a major drawback ? thanks jr

Joe, we haven't seen anything major with 4,000 hours on them yet with daily farm use except the cosmetics.

To get one with the manual transmission release would be a good idea as otherwse on hills you might have to stop with the brakes to be able to release the shifter. Some have had issues with this especially in the woods.

They have been continually updating them even to the 09's with them being able to coast more without stopping.

Is the manual transmission release something you add on or have to get when ordering it ? I know the RTVs are slow but my primary use would be trails and in the woods so that wouldn't be a huge consideration. The only other thing is I want a full cab and heat. When you price this out seperately it is really expensive. Better to wait for one set up this way ? I'm not in a big hurry.

The release is not something you can add later! It was made standard about 07 for the RTV's.

A machine with a cab never brings it's full value when used although it will bring a good value.

The RTV is not a speed demon but I haven't found one that is being abused more without break downs for carrying large loads and towing more then designed for with out issues.

personaly at those kind of cost differnces I'd be looking new. They are fair prices for used RTV's, resale is really good on them because people don't tend to get rid of them... but $2500 more gets you a new machine with the updates, financing, warrenty, etc

The real question is what are the improvements on the 2010's vs the 2007 model and the cost difference between $8750 and best new price you can get?

If I had a real use for a new RTV I would consider the purchase. My wife wants one to occasionally tour our property and gardening. I thought if the 05 was in good condition 6k or maybe 5500 would be a good compromise. For the few hours a year we would put on a used machine makes better sense. I did't think there would be many improvments between the two. I know she will want a full hard cab with heat so I have to check out the cost of those features that will surely add substancial cost. Like many... toys have a budget. Thanks for your input.

We bought a 2006 RTV 900 with very low hours a few months ago in the same price range. I have seen them cheaper but with higher hours. Ours is great. We have almost doubled the hours that were on the RTV. Driven it loaded through deep mud at the deer lease without an issue. We live on flat land and have not had an issue with changing gears. It is a real work machine around the farm. Ours did not have the hydro dump but most likely would not use it much if we had it.
