I have a friend who is getting a ASV RC 85 and looking at a US Mower QA 60 rotary mower (US Mower: Skid Steer Mowers)

anyone have any experience with this mower? I have only used an older Ambusher- which I recomended to him...but not sure- looks like the US Mower is pretty similar.

thanks

I'd also have him look at a DAVCO. I used to send my tracked Bobcat customers to the ASV dealer to buy them. It was almost indestructable. I think it is made by a logging equipment manufacturer in Canada. One of the things that is nice about them on the ASV RC85 and RC100s is that the cutting width is a little wider than the tracks so the operator doesn't end up running over debris or material that hasn't been cut. It can save on track life.

I have sold a few US Mowers for roadside mowing, and they are top notch-I have not sold the one you are talking aoubt, but their quality (as I've seen it) is first rate-

I have run both the Davco and the US Mower, and I like the US Mower a little better. Also, Ambusher is now making a much heavier mower for a little less money the the other two. Davco 72" around here is about $11,000.

I had my first day using a Ammbusher DL66 today...unreal! It would zip through a 6 inch tree with out even slowing down. The only negative thought I had was that little front door. If the front was cut out the full width of the mower (like the Davco) it would be easier to continue forward instead of back and forth when you are getting in to bigger material and have to get the tree in the door. For the finished product I am looking for on this job the DL66 is faster then the Fecon...Dirty Works got it right when he suggested the DL66!
I've only run it a few hours but I'm starting to think about cutting the front to expose the knives (like the Davco)

:D Told you so Ted! My initial thoughts on the door was that it would not hold up two days! Well so far it has not had any problems. I also had my doubts on the exposed hydroilic motor and lines. Thought we would have to build a cage around it. @400 hurs later and not even one broken hose!Work with it for another week before you modify it. It does take a moment to get over the initial learning curve coming from a "flail" to a "rotary". Hope you finish that job quicker now. The hardest part for me was to remember to keep the back (part toward machine) up all the time. Have to get used to using the front shoes]skids.

Side note... every couple of weeks or so take off the cover and check tightness of the motor mounting bolts. They have jam nuts on there so they do not loosen. the problem is the paint wears off below the nuts and there will be slight movement of the motor. If left alone long enough there will be a vibration that is noticeable from the seat a a slight loss of cutting power/torque.
