upgrade help

I am considering upgrading from my B7610. I have two acres of lawn and have around 8 acres of field. I currently mow the fields with my MMM but this is slow and I can only do it if I mow regularly. I also have considerable hills.

I have two questions, would the B7800 with a rear finish mower work, or should I try to move up to the L3400. I do prefer HST.

Also, what should I try to sell my 2006 B7610 90 hrs. for? I paid 13,500. Thanks in advance for the help.

Any finish mower, whether mid-mount or 3-point, is an expensive and perhaps slow way to mow an 8 acre "field". Of course, as you know, it can be done. Why not just get a rotary cutter for the B7610? The B7800 is, in my opinion, a good size for 10 acres, but personally I sure do prefer tractors with position control on the 3-point instead of the quarter inching valve, but again, they both work. I think you'll lose a considerable amount of money in order to upgrade, so if there's any doubt at all about which tractor to move up to, go for the bigger one since you don't want to have to upgrade again in the near future.

I have looked into a rotary cutter for the 7610. It is only rated for a 4' cutter. Will this be faster than the 5' MMM?

I used to have a 48" rotary cutter for my B7100, which was only rated for a 42", and it worked just fine. Far be it from me to tell you to do anything different from what the manufacturer and manual tell you to do, but you might keep in mind that when Kubota rated your tractor for a 48" rotary cutter, they didn't know whether you were going to be cutting grass or whether you'd be cutting heavy brush and good sized saplings. I've stated many times in the past, that in my opinion, Kubota is pretty conservative in their implement ratings. So, if it were me, I'd get a 5' rotary cutter for that tractor and I don't think you'd have any problem if you're only cutting stuff that a finish mower can cut. And of course, if you do get into something heavier, you don't have to cut a full width every time; overlap more and it can handle the heavier stuff.

I am doing 20-40 acres of pasture work, 2 acres of tree clearing, one acre of lawn work and 2 acres of grading with a B7800.

I pull a Woods 5 foot rotary cutter, a six foot york rake and a 7 foot RFM for these tasks.

No problems, other than I need to think about baling hay, and under the sun a 5040 and cab would do so....

So there.... it ain't outclassed by the property, but is not efficient either.....
