Underground stream or not?

Of course I have no way of knowing but I suspect it's simply a crevice that has been enlarged over time by water. The photos aren't very clear. I suspect that during periods of heavy rainfall, water flows heavily into it and then into some underground aquifer. Tell me, is this a heavy limestone area or something similiar? It sounds much like a fault and I suspect it will be something you're going to have to live with.

I have to agree with you..I have what we call in Georgia a " Wet weather branch" it is a trench that runs between two pastures on my farm and is 8 ft or so deep or deeper in spots and then down to 2 ft. in some spots and as branches and pine straw falls, part of it in places is covered up..it is not a bother to us since it is in a wood line between the two pastures...most years it has been dry but this year we had a 500 yr . flood and it was a gushing steam for about a week..now it is dry again and it empties into a steam down below..chances are if he follows the flow sometime when it is raining hard you will find where it empties..Seems you could have a nice pond built .
