The most fun starter to take off is a on a 762 JD scraper. its on the right side of the motor and Deere didnt thingk to put a panel in the cab bulkhead. You drop the belly pan and sit on a block of wood and tryto get your torso into a greasy spot and take the wires off. then remove it.
THe old 3550 Ford TLB I have is a pita to remove the back bolt on te starter to. In fact its so hard to put in that some dealer ships in the 70's left them out.
Our main heavy machinery repair folks work in some places thats a menace to work in. When they repaired for the timber companies like WestVaco. They used to have to repair KG and rake dozers in the woods and often stalled in swamps. I had a trackloader break down one job and it was in a bad spot to top it off a week of rain was on its way. we dug a trench around the the machine with a hoe to let the water go around it. and sawed some pine poles and lashed them to the rops and cab and put a few tarps on it and tented it. Made the job alot easier that way. We had to drop the belly pans and replace the oilpan.
