Interesting. My question would be what kind of environment would have spawned a life form that depended on suspended animation and dispersion throughout the universe for survival? Seems highly unlikely to me.
A life form that was forced to live under harsher and harsher conditions, loss of atmosphere, their sun star fading out; they could conceivably evolve the needed qualities or engineer them.
Insects on earth do some unlikely things. Seeds of some plants remain viable for many decades. Take a little of that, add to it with some 'droid alterations; it's not so far fetched. Some futurists feel that human evolution inevitably leads to cyborgs. I could see that, especially under extreme environmental stress.
