I thought it is was a good read. Some ideas in there I hadn't encountered before, guess I don't keep up very well with the ET thinking.

The article about Time in the universe (link at the end of this article) is not bad either for perspective.

I lean toward the "we are (among) the first" category; the universe has reached a condition that spawns life in numerous places, and we are one of those places. My second choice would be that we are in a rural, backwater part of the Milky Way galaxy. But, certainly anything is possible including ant hills. :laughing:

Well, that was interesting. And humbling. And a little depressing to think we may be the ants.

Very interesting, yes, but the whole discussion forgets about two major problems that I don't see being overcome, namely, the fact that we can't go fast enough to get anywhere in any reasonable time frame, (nor can our various radio signals), and the fact that, as humans, we cannot withstand the necessary acceleration forces to even get up to light speed. And I see no way to get beyond light speed anyway.

Sure, we can have faith that we will move beyond these limitations, just like the people who used to ride horses to get places did. However, I think we are at about the maximum level that we can get when it comes to these very serious limitations.

I really don't know what to think...I thinks it strange that NASA cuts the stream feed rather than offering any explanation...they are usually pretty good at blowing smoke....!

Agreed, all major tech advances come from war. During WWII so many technologies were discovered and advanced. Nothing like have to fight for your life to give people a big kick in the pants to invent something. After WWII so many of the things pioneered in the war were put to use and further developed. Example the space program. The space program would have never existed if not for WWII and the ****'s. The cold war provided another huge boost.. Talk all you want about resources wasted in war, not so.. LIVES are wasted in wars. Resources are applied in warfare at a much higher rate. I am telling you, anyone that comes here from out space will probably act more like a Klingon than a pacifist.

Ever hear of the prime directive? "They" have been here for a very long time and if they had wanted to do us harm we'd be toast by now. Seems "they" may have given us religion. What has the human race been fighting over ever since?
