I agree. I believe our success to space travel is overcoming time. Once we can do that we will travel as in the Star Trek shows.

IMO...there is a better chance that life beyond the Earth will be realized before there is any actual (real) proof that "bigfoot" (etc.) exists...!

The thing that puzzles me is .. If they do exist, why would they fly all this way, then not even make themselves known? Why would they hide their existence? The only sensible answer I can think of is that there are so many advanced / inhabited planets out there that we aren't even worth paying much attention to. Just like we don't stop and poke every anthill we drive past.

Any creatures that could reach us would have to be vastly more advanced and very different. If they can reach our planet then they can probably reach all of them.

Why don't they show them selves?... man you sure have never watched Star Trek? Don't know about the "Prime Directive".?
Any advanced civilization that comes in contact with a primitive civilization (that's us by the way ) always inadvertently destroys the primitive civilization's way of life... Just wipes it out by introducing technology and knowledge. Oh? you say this is just TV fantasy? Well look around to what more advanced cultures have done to less advanced cultures here on earth over the centuries.. Yep it is true. Even now the current thinking is not to civilize the remaining "savages" in our world, but leave them alone to develop in their own time. Whether this is correct thinking is open for interpretation, but the concept of the clash of civilizations is true for sure though.
