Wow!!! I'd never have believed anyone could have got out of that car. It looked like it went through a scrap yard crusher.

Lucky people!!

And, Attaboy to the Seabees!

Thanks Larry! From another Seabee, OO-RAH. Seabee's motto is Can Do, the difficult we do now, the impossible just takes a little longer. WE never turn our backs on a problem. We do more good works than combat everyday; even though we can also hold our own in combat. A real disaster assistance effort occurs whenever (often) when there big a hurricane on the Gulf Coast as our other major base is at Gulfport MS

You're right Ron, I read good stories all the time in the SeaBee magazine but it's not often there is national recognition.

The story however, is full of heros. SeaBees and Emergency Response personnel together gave this a happy ending.

I don't suppose there's anyone who hasn't seen the John Wayne movie, The Fighting Seabees. And I don't know how many times I've seen it.:)

My Dad's best friend from the time they were children served in the Seabees in WWII. I never heard him say a word about the war or his experiences except one time that I'll never forget. Someone said something about the Marines being the first onto the beaches, and he said, "Yeah, after we went in driving a bulldozer with one hand and shooting a rifle with the other to clear a landing spot for them."

At one time that movie was used a Seabee training film!!

Don't forget the bottle of M-Nu to blacken your crows!

I started in OD greens and finished in woodland cami's.

I watch the report on the Evening News yesterday and I was shocked that anyone would have been alive in that smashed and crumbled car. I tip my hat to the Seabees and the First Responders who most definitely helped save that Mother and her two children.
