Type \"A\" ATF

Does anyone know if type "A" automatic transmission fluid is still available. I have an older JD 112 that calls for this type fluid in the hydraulic system. Wonder if Dextron would be OK?

Checked a bottle of Dexron III/Mercon I have in the garage. It states that Dexron III/Mercon replaces Type A, Dexron, Dextron II, IIE, III and Mercon fluids. Believe you are OK in using it for your JD 110.

Type A is still available. I get it at NAPA for a couple of power steering units and an old Ford Pickup I have. Other places have it as well. My friends in the transmission rebuilding business say not to use dexron in a type A application.
