Tractor
Mitsubishi 180D, Jinma 284 sold, Kubota BX2660, IH Cub, Case 580CK, Minneapolis Moline 4 Star (sold), TYM 574, Furukawa FX-040
What this boils down to is that I cannot recommend anyone buy a TYM tractor. My first T574 cab tractor put my dealer and myself through a 30 month ordeal that according to my dealer made him sick. From the very first tank of fuel, as delivered from the dealer, the MIL (malfunction indicator light) and DPF lights came on and nothing would turn them off. That tractor was serial #00009, which I imagine puts it in early production category even though my dealer had to order it in October 2019. After my first report of this problem to my dealer, I waited two months with no action before asking if anyone was going to do anything. Long story short, after about 20 dealer visits to my farm and hauling the tractor back to the dealership for extensive work twice with the MIL and DPF lights reoccurring 5 times, my sending letters to TYM South Korea and my state attorney generals office, I was offered a replacement identical tractor or full refund. Since I had been many times told this was an isolated incident and I otherwise really liked the tractor, I took the replacement. Big mistake.

Now with 72 hours on the clock, the new tractor is having the exact same problem. I reported the problem to the dealer 9 months ago. The dealer notified his territory manager (TM) by phone and follow-up email. I have heard nothing from anyone even though again I wrote two letters to South Korea. My local (same town) dealer wrote me to look for another dealer to handle the warranty repair on a sale that he made the money on. I wrote back asking if that meant he was no longer going to service my tractor, to which I never received a reply.

In my experience, TYM is a terrible company to deal with if you have a warranty service problem, and I can not recommend that anyone buy any of their products. The above compilation is only a fraction of the problems that I endured. The 30 month ordeal made my dealer sick? What does he think it is like for me.

Wow! Sorry to hear this. And now I am sorry TYM bought out Branson which is the kind of tractor I have.

Yes, sorry to hear.

Were there any symptoms of problems other than the dash lights?

Take a couple pieces of black electrical tape and cover the lights...
Thank you very much for your questions. I appreciate the opportunity to make this clear. No, there are no symptoms of any problems. Everything looks perfect and the tractor operates perfectly. What really bothers me is if the engine has an actual problem how will the dash board let me know since the MIL light is already on. My dealer has told me to continue to use the tractor and I am not doing any harm to it. Every time I say this my dealer corrects me saying these are not his words but it is what TYM told him to tell me. But since TYM has never ever contacted me directly I have to say this info came from the dealer.

The engine can't tell you anything anyway. It's a mechanical injected engine, so no electronics other than temp sensors and oil pressure switch.

All of the possible errors you're getting comes from the DPF controller. This means the issues are either at one of the sensors of the DPF, the controller itself or more commonly, the exhaust valve that's used to increase the DPF temp for the regen process.

Technically, it could all fall off and the engine would still run better than ever.

I get the frustration of a lights being on and lack of support from the dealer or manufacturer. That said, have you tried to diagnose it yourself? Maybe we could help you with that and get the lights off.

Another question would be what all will trigger the MIL light to eliminate? I suspect with this tractor only the emissions system. Oil pressure should have it’s own light. Temperature should have a gauge. Water in fuel should have it’s own light depending on the type of filter.

There really isn’t anything that the light can tell you that wouldn’t be noticeable in another form other than the emissions. If the tractor hasn’t loss power or making any unusual sounds it should be fine.

I guess over 90 percent of TBN followers would greatly prefer not having the high maintenance, energy robbing emission control on their tractors. But I do not want this posting to go in that direction. I drove my tractor for over 2 years with the MIL and DPF lights being reset only to come back on again 5 hours later with about 20 trips by my dealer. Right now it has been 9 months with those lights on with absolutely no contact or concern from from any level of TYM including South Korea. Farmers or anyone buys a $40,000 tractor deserves better. Even if you spent half you would deserve better. The TYM customer service, or total lack of, is abhorrent. This is why I can not recommended anyone buy a TYM.

Always been my philosophy that idiot lights are just for that... idiots. I ignore them always.

I understand your pain. You are not the only TYM owner with experiences like this, sorry to say.

When I recommend anything related to a TYM product, it is RK tractors. Rural King does have issues with service of their machines, BUT they will not leave you high and dry like the TYM network did, nor allow your machine sit out for months on end waiting for parts overseas. Koiti since 2019 has been having these troubles too, likewise LS.

$40K is not something to ignore, even in today's high inflation era.
