TYM mechanical thumb working limits

I just put a mechanical thumb on my TYM BY85 (equivalent to Branson BH150) backhoe - but I can’t find specs for a working weight limit on the setup. Does it hurt anything to just keep wrestling with rocks, roots and stumps until I overcome the hydraulics, then back off and try try again?

You won’t hurt the hydraulic system by going to relief pressure but depending on how you are using the thumb you might bend something from excessive loading.

I have the thumb on my BH150. I assume that it's stronger than any force I can apply with the hydraulics alone.

You won't be able to apply more force with the thumb than without, so, thumb away
